Conviction from the Lord is a very serious thing that we can not take lightly. The even scarier thing is that if we don’t feel conviction from our sin. If we don’t feel any remorse about sin in our lives, we need to question we we are at with God. Are we truly children of the Holy, perfect, pure Father? If we are, then we should feel awful about sin in our lives, repent, and want to change. Repenting is not saying sorry for the same in over and over again. It is completely turning at a 180 degree angle from it and walking the opposite direction. Paul states in 2 Corinthians 7:10:

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Unfortunately there have been times in my life where I have had unrepented sin for a period of time. I knew in these times I far from God, that I couldn’t approach Him and that I just felt separated from Him. The bible is pretty clear about times like this in our lives, especially reading in Romans. The good news is, is that He died for our sin, so that we don’t have to be separate from Him. We can repent and He is eager to forgive us. Psalm 103:12 says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” But this means we aren’t going back to it. It’s not repetitive or habitual sin. I also think there is an ability to lose salvation according to the bible, which is another blog, and I don’t believe it’s a one-time profession but a continued, surrendered, obedient life in Jesus.

I think a lot of times people don’t understand the severity of being separated from God, especially non-believers. They don’t know what it is like to be free, forgiven and paid for. The scarier thing is that if they don’t choose to surrender and give up their lives in this life, they will be eternally separated from God after they die and can not go back to earth to remake the most important decision of their life. There is nothing like being in His presence as it is the only thing in this world that truly satisfies. In Psalm 63:1, David cries out: You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. He knows that God is the only one who truly satisfies, and once you drink of that living water, you don’t desire anything else because it is the only thing that can truly, truly quench thirst.

So I implore you, if you are a believer, stay humble and repent so that you are near to Him. If you are not believer and want the freedom and forgiveness that only Christ can give, pray, and ask God to forgive you and enter into a relationship with Him. There is nothing better in this world than that!
